Childrens' Aid (Scotland) Ltd is run by a group of professionals and business people who all give their time voluntarily. There are no paid employees.
Under the company's memo and arts, we can only donate money to registered childrens' charities. Before the end of each financial year, the committee meet and decide where we are going to donate our money for that year. We donate all the money we have earned, before the year end, which leaves the company with no tax liability.
The reason the company is not a registered charity is the heavy compliance that is required to obtain this status. Also, as we pay out all the funds we generate on an annual basis, we ensure there is no tax to pay so probably no great advantage to us to try and register. The other reason is that the work is done on a purely voluntary basis and there are no paid employees.
